Milton Keynes’s best value breakfast at The Greedy Italian

I am on a quest to find Milton Keynes’s best breakfast as I slowly make my way around town one breakfast at a time – until The Greedy Italian shows up.

I discovered this bijoux Fenny Stratford restaurant back in October when a couple of friends invited me out for breakfast. Located in a beautiful 19th-century building that retains a wealth of original features oozing rustic and rural charm, The Greedy Italian has it all: authentic Italian cuisine with a modern twist, the freshest ingredients and brilliant service.

For lunch and dinner on most days except Monday when they’re shut, The Greedy Italian has a wide range on offer from tapas for sharing to meat and fish dishes to pasta and risottos. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are for breakfast and brunch, starting at 9 am each day and ending at 11, 11.30 and 12.00 pm respectively on each day.

The menu is guaranteed to delight any discerning breakfast fan. There’s something for everyone from the staple Full English, delightfully called ‘Full and Proper’ to Eggs Florentine to American pancakes. You can even opt for a breakfast burger. There are also vegetarian options.

Of course, I had to sample the Full and Proper and I was delighted by the fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The best eggs and sausages I’ve had for a while. Another plus is the endless cups of coffee at no extra cost. Waiting staff instinctively know when your cup is running low, and as if on cue, another pot of strong Italian coffee is served!

If you want something a tad more decadent, there’s, of course, the brunch option with two hours of free-flowing Prosecco or Peroni to complement a menu of eggs, omelettes, steaks, starters such as bruschetta and chorizo and desserts like white chocolate panna cotta, double chocolate brownie and strawberry cheesecake. At £28 per person, it gets the bang for your buck too.

As for breakfast, Full English is priced as £9.50, and with unlimited coffee, it’s probably one of the best value breakfast in Milton Keynes. So much so that I went back two weeks later with Mr O for another fill of Full and Proper, and was once again equally impressed.

The Greedy Italian’s tag line is ‘Have a bella day’ – with breakfast as theirs, you’re definitely set to have a beautiful day.
