Last week was the week I got rethinking pink – apparently – from millennial pink culottes to pink lippy. Being sort of duskier of complexion with a mop of brown hair, I am not exactly an English rose, so I have left pink and blush tones out of my makeup bag since I stepped out of my twenties but last week with the arrival of my complimentary Influenster UK Vox Box with a trio of Max Factor beauty goodies*, I had to have a rethink.
Like a kid on Christmas day, I was super excited opening up my box of beauty goodies; then again which woman doesn’t get excited at the thought of new makeup? I must say I was a little cynical when I first laid eyes on Max Factor’s Colour Elixir lipstick in 830 Dusky Rose and Honey Lacquer gloss in Honey Lilac. Undaunted, I began experimenting.
The first step was the easiest, the lip liner which acts as a primer for lippy keeping everything in place neatly. You can kiss those fuzzy lip smudges goodbye (pun intended!).
I braved pink with Dusky Rose on the first day. While it took me a while to get used to such a lighter shade on me, I was happy with the creamy feel and the rich colour. It worked wonders for my face with a nude makeup look.
While still wary of using Honey Lacquer gloss in Honey Lilac, I decided to go for a ultra-glossy, high shine, colour intense ’80s look the next day. Again keeping the rest of the look nude, I paired the pink gloss with a mint green top. One of the main reasons I have ditched lip glosses is the sticky feel and the fly away hair you end up having to peel of your lips at the end of a windy day. Max Factor’s Honey Lacquer gives you all the gloss without the goo which made me feel a lot more comfortable wearing it.
Rich in colour, full of moisture and long-lasting, both theHoney Lacquer and the Colour Elixir are keepers for my makeup bag. I can only thank Max Factor for making me rethink pink.
